UCL: Liverpool Thrash Man City 3-0, Barcelona Beat AS Roma 4-1

Manchester City’s hope of finishing this season with a Treble is all but gone, after they were thrashed 3-0 by Liverpool, in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie on Wednesday night.

Pep Guardiola’s men have the League Cup in their trophy cabinet and are one win away from being confirmed Premier League champions.

However, they would need amiracle at The Etihad next Tuesday, if they are to stand a chance of adding the Champions League title.

Mohammed Salah continued his sensational run of form with the opener, latching onto a loose ball in City’s defence and firing past Ederson.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain made it 2-0 with a brilliant strike from distance, before Sadio Mane added a third before the break.

And in the other match:

Barcelona have defeated Roma 4-1 in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash on Wednesday night.

The LaLiga giants needed apair of own goals to get going at the Nou Camp.

First, Daniele De Rossi slid-pass his goalkeeper, to make it 1-0 in the first half.

Then Konstantinos Manolassaw the ball bounce off him into the net, to double Barca’s lead.

Gerard Pique made it 3-0, before Roma pulled one back through Edin Dzeko.

Luis Suarez restored his side’s three-goal advantage with an instinctive finish.

The second leg will be played next Tuesday in Rome.
